Library of Things

The Library of Things is a collection of non-traditional items that complement the Summit Free Public Library’s mission to inform, enrich, and inspire. We hope the Library of Things will offer new experiences for you and your family to enjoy. Discover the night sky using one of our telescopes, observe local birds with our birdwatching kit, search for treasures using our metal detector, and much, much more! The Library of Things collection is made possible in part by the generosity of the Friends of the Library.

Here is the fine print:

• Overdue fines are $10 per day.
• Items are available to Summit residents 17 and over, paid members, and those employed in Summit.
• Items circulate for a period of 7 days.
• Only two items from the Library of Things may be checked out at a time.
• Replacement costs for these items range from $55 to $1200 so please handle them carefully!
