POSITION: Part-Time Library Monitor

DESCRIPTION: Seeking a friendly, but firm individual to maintain an environment that is safe, welcoming, and comfortable for library users and staff in the after-school hours.

REPRESENTATIVE JOB DUTIES:

  • Enforce the library’s rules of conduct with all patrons and visitors by performing walkthroughs of the building and grounds and speaking with library users in violation of these rules / taking appropriate next steps.
  • Create and maintain documentation of incidents.
  • Communicate incidents or potential issues through appropriate channels.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

PREFERRED SKILLS: Experience working with a variety of age groups, especially middle school students.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma (or GED); some college or technical coursework preferred; experience in library or other customer service field and/or security work, or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Location/Department: Summit Free Public Library/ Administration
Reports to: Amy Behr-Shields, Director
Library Type: Public
Hourly Rate: $24.90 / hour (Grade 4, Step 1)
Schedule: 10 hours per week, Monday – Friday @ 3-5PM

Since the Library is open days and evenings, schedule may occasionally vary.

POSITION: Part-Time Circulation Assistant

DESCRIPTION: Seeking an enthusiastic and customer service-oriented individual to assist at a very busy Circulation Department in all functions of the daily routine of the Library.

REPRESENTATIVE JOB DUTIES:

  • Prepare, shelve, and shift library materials.
  • Assist with maintaining and promoting library collections.
  • Assist the public at the Circulation Desk in all aspects of service.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

PREFERRED SKILLS: Experience working with a variety of age groups, from babies to seniors; proficiency in working with computers; bilingual English/any language is a plus.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma (or GED) and three years of experience in library or other customer service work, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Hourly Rate: $21.46

Schedule:
Average 16 hours per week
Sunday: 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm (every other)
Tuesday: 9:30 am – 1:30 pm
Wednesday: 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Thursday: 9:30 am – 1:30 pm
Saturday: 9:30 am – 1:30 pm (every other)

Since the Library is open days and evenings, schedules may vary; including Saturday and Sunday rotation.
