Book Club Kits

Book Club Kits

If you belong to a book club, you know that it’s sometimes a challenge to find enough copies of a book for all of the members. We have a solution! The Library owns multiple copies of a variety of titles – fiction and nonfiction – suitable for book club discussions.

What books are available?

For the most up-to-date list of book club titles, check the ongoing list in our catalog.

How does it work?
There are two options. Choose the one that works best for your group:

  • Individual borrowing. Tell us the title of the book, the number of copies you need, and the start and end dates for book pickup (usually a two-week period). We’ll hold the books behind the front desk. Your club members can stop by whenever it’s convenient to check out individual copies. To borrow books, they must have current, valid library cards from Summit, Millburn, or one of the Morris-Union Federation (MUF) libraries.
  • Request a book club kit. Tell us how many copies you need. All of the books will be checked out on your card, and you will be responsible for returning all of them.

How long do books go out?
Book club titles – whether borrowed individually or as kits – go out for six weeks. They can be renewed twice as long as no one else is waiting.

Sounds great! I’ve checked the list, and am interested in this for my book club. What’s the next step?
Speak with a reference librarian if you have a specific title in mind, or browse the entire collection of titles to the left of the reference desk. As always, feel free to call us with any questions or concerns at 908-273-0350, option 3.
