We are open!

The Summit Free Public Library is currently offering in-person service and curbside pick-up for borrowing materials. No time limit is placed on visits.  Our public computers do not require reservation and can be used for up to 2 hours. Our public restrooms are open, although our meeting rooms and Think-it Lab remain closed. Our Quiet Study Rooms are now available. Photocopying, faxing, scanning and printing services are available. Curbside service is still available for those who prefer it.

Adult programs will continue to be virtual. Many of our children and teen programs will be offered outside under the tent.

Please note the following:

  • In light of the new CDC recommendations regarding mask-wearing for vaccinated individuals, the Library has reinstated our indoor mask requirement for everyone over the age of 2, regardless of vaccination status. Union County is currently in the “substantial risk” category and the CDC recommends vaccinated individuals in areas of substantial risk wear masks indoors. The NJ Department of Health and the Westfield Regional Health Department recommend the same. As always, we will continue to review the relevant guidance and respond accordingly as the situation evolves, letting you know of any changes to the Covid policies in a timely and transparent manner. Thank you.
  • Patrons are encouraged to use hand sanitizer prior to entering the building and after touching library materials and surfaces. Hand-sanitizing stations are placed throughout the building.
  • For patron and staff safety, sneeze guards have been installed at all public service desks.
  • We have installed a bipolar ionization air filtration system and cleaned all HVAC ductwork to reduce bacteria and viruses in the air.
  • No donations can be accepted until further notice.
