Youth Services Highlight — November 2024

Is your child participating in the 2025 Battle of the Books at the Summit Public Schools? Every year, the youth services department communicates with the media specialists at the public schools to make sure that we have five copies of each of the current Battle of the Books titles for Grades 4-8. The fourth gradefifth grade and sixth grade lists are located in the Story Corner in the Children’s Room. The seventh and eighth grade titles are located on the mezzanine directly across from the stairs. We will order any titles that are missing, and will add them to our display once we receive them.

Have you been asked to be a mystery reader? Is your child looking for new books to read? The library has a series of book lists located on our website and recommended by the library’s youth services staff members. Whether your child likes dinosaurs, or superheroes, princesses, or vehicles, chances are that you can find a new book for them to read, or a good choice for you to read aloud to their class or before bedtime. Lists are available for preschoolerselementary school students and middle high school students. As a bonus, if your child’s teacher has asked your child to read specifically on their guided reading level, we have lists by reading level as well. You can always “Ask Us” for more recommendations, or you can use our library’s database Novelist K-8 with your library card to look for recommendations on your own.
