Youth Services Highlight — July 2024

There’s still time to sign up for summer reading, pick up your summer reading passport to participate this summer, and earn small prizes and free books to take home. But did you know there is another way for your child to take home a bonus prize this summer? The library is partnering with Color Me Mine in Summit. If a child reads six books and writes down what they read, they will earn one free studio fee at Color Me Mine. Stop by the Ask Us desk and pick up a Color Me Mine bookmark to participate.

What’s your favorite book for children or teens? Summit Free Public Library is partnering with Macaroni Kid of Summit Short Hills and SOMA this summer to allow everyone to vote for their top five books for children and teens from the past 150 years. The list of books is taken from our Top 100 books for Children and Teens from the past 150 years, compiled this year by our youth services librarians to celebrate the library’s 150th anniversary. Vote for your favorites between now and August 31, and we will share our results once school resumes in September.
