Youth Services Highlight — April 2025

The growing season has begun, and it’s time to join the Little Sprouts Garden Club! Little Sprouts is a STEAM-based program for children in grades K-5 that focuses on cultivating a community garden at the library. Kids and their caregivers work together on a variety of activities, including planting and garden maintenance, hosting an Earth Day event, harvesting and cooking, water conservation and safety, pollinators, and much more. Throughout the season, the children meet and interact with several local experts to learn more about the various topics we explore.

The Little Sprouts program and the construction of the Wilson White Learning Garden are generously funded by a bequest from Wilson White. Local High School student Anderson Lee designed, constructed, and installed the seven garden beds that are on the Morris Avenue side of the Library as his Eagle Scout project.

The Library is also celebrating “Book Madness” with brackets to vote for your favorite picture book characters and series. Voting lasts five weeks. Summit’s favorite series will be celebrated with a party during the 2025 Summer Reading Program! Vote at the Library or online here. See the characters at the link or on the bulletin board in the Children’s Room Activity Corner.
