The Summit Herald of September 15, 1900 reported on the college plans of recent graduates of Summit High School. The class of 1900 contained 8 people. The hurricane that struck Galveston, Texas, was estimated to have killed at least 5,000 people, and left more than 15,000 homeless. Burglars entered the home of Frank A. Wright and removed two drawers of silverware valued at $50. Miss Faith Ripley of Minneapolis married Mr. Howard Atterbury of Summit at the U.S. Legation in Buenos Ayres, where the groom was working for the International Paper Co. President McKinley accepted the nomination as Republican candidate to run against William Jennings Bryan in the upcoming election.
