The Summit Herald of February 25, 1905 reported that the Summit Athletic Association planned to start a baseball team which would be part of the newly-formed Lackawanna League, along with Morristown-Chatham, Dover, Orange, Phillipsburg, and Stroudsburg. A new side-entrance Cadillac was advertised for $950. Work began on a tunnel under the Hudson River to connect Jersey City with New York. The Central Railroad of New Jersey advertised its luxurious Blue Star Line trains between New York and Washington for any locals planning to travel to President Roosevelt's inauguration.
