The Summit Herald of August 4, 1906 reported that Russian mutineers and revolutionaries in the sea fortress of Sveaborg were defeated by two battleships of the Czar’s navy. Local baseball pitcher Larry Walsh was injured when he intervened in a late-night brawl at the carnival grounds involving the adult son of the merry-go-round operator and several unknown assailants. Henry’s Garage advertised a new Pope-Hartford touring car to rent for $5/hour or $25/day. A baseball game between single men of Summit vs. a team of married men ended 21-7, in favor of the single men.
