The leaves are falling, there is a chill in the air and the busy autumn season is in full swing. As you prepare for Thanksgiving guests, be sure to check out the Summit Library’s extensive cook book and magazine collections to plan that perfect meal and family gathering.

Those cold dark nights are also the perfect time to gather the family around the fireplace for a great family movie. The library is your only local source for DVDs. All you need to do is make the popcorn!
Parents, be sure to include the library and paper and ink books into your reading regimen with your kids. A recent article in the New York Times entitled “Is e-reading to your toddler story time or simply screen time?” discussed the importance of both. While online programs and games may help increase your child’s vocabulary, the interaction between parent and child in reading a book together, the discussion of the story and its relation to the child’s life are key to a child’s linguistic development. While the Summit Library offers online books including Tumblebooks, TumbleBooks Jr. and downloadable titles through eLibraryNJ, be sure to include the excitement of choosing his/her own book and bringing it home from the library in your child’s reading experience.
Check out the list of wonderful programs being offered for children, teens and adults in the listings below. There will be concerts, lectures, story times, craft programs and more. There’s always something great going on at the library!
Library hours are Monday through Thursday 9:00 am – 9:00 pm, Friday and Saturday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm and Sunday 1:00 – 5:00 pm. Hope to see you soon!
