What is Rosetta Stone?
Rosetta Stone is a company that uses a unique method of teaching languages which is different from traditional language learning. Traditional methods explain the meaning and structure of a new language through translation and grammar rules in your native language. Rosetta Stone eliminates translation and grammar explanations and provides the opportunity to develop all your language skills—listening, speaking, reading, and writing — using your own natural language-learning ability. Rosetta Stone offers courses for 30 different languages. After registering, you can study at your pace and at times that are convenient for you. Rosetta Stone is free for Summit library patrons.
How is Rosetta Stone structured?
Rosetta Stone training contains five levels and you can start learning at any level. Each level includes training in various skills such as grammar, pronunciation, speaking and reading using various types of activities: multiple choice questions, games, live tutorials, chats, talking with a native speaker tutor. You can also record yourself while reading.
Each level is divided into units with core lessons and focused activities. Core lessons will teach you your new language, while focused activities build skills and reinforce the language you’ve learned. At the end of each unit, a conversational Milestone prepares you for live practice in Rosetta Stone Live Tutoring. At each step you will receive a visual feedback about your progress and areas that need improvement.
