New Patron Welcome Kit

Welcome to Summit Free Public Library!

Even though the library building is only open specific hours, the library is available 24/7 via the electronic services that we provide. Several of these resources are available to the public for free with a library card.
Library cards are open to all residents who live or work in Summit. For more information on getting a library card, please visit our Library Card Page.
The Summit Free Public Library has reciprocal borrowing with many local libraries. If you are a Summit resident or property owner and have a library card in good standing, you may use your library card from Summit Free Public Library to borrow and return books at the bordering towns of Springfield, Chatham, New Providence, Berkeley Heights, and more. Please note: Some of our reciprocal libraries may have limitations on what Summit Library Cardholders may borrow.  Consider contacting the libraries ahead of time.
