Dear Summit Free Public Library patrons and community members,
September is usually a busy time of year for everyone, with the beginning of a new school year and extracurricular activities starting up again, it almost seems like there aren’t enough hours in a day! On a personal level, while busy, September is one of my favorite months because libraries around the country start September by celebrating Library Card-Sign Up Month and, mid-September, begin celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month.
Library Card Sign-Up Month (September 1 – September 30)
You already knew that your Summit Free Public Library card is the smartest card in your wallet, but now your library card just got more valuable. Besides giving you access to everything the library has to offer, your card can help you save money during the month of September! September is “Library Card Sign-Up Month” in many libraries across the country, including the Summit Free Public Library. Show your Summit Library card at the following Summit businesses from September 1-30 and receive a discount, deal, or gift:
Bake Bakery || Brownie Points Bakery || Doria’s Pizza || Dunkin Donuts || Esperanza Salon & Spa || Fiorino Ristorante Marigolds || The Red Balloon || Schroth & Lorensons Jewelers Smoothie King || SQR Pizza || Summit Area YMCA || Summit Health Shoppe || Sweet Nothings || UPS Store of Summit Willow St || Zappia Cucina & Brick Oven Pizza
For a complete list of the details of all discounts, deals, and offers, please scroll to the bottom of the newsletter.
As you can see, your Summit Library card IS the smartest card in your wallet! Be on the lookout for the colorful “Show your library card” posters and start saving.
Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 – October 16)
Summit Free Public Library will celebrate the contributions, cultures, and histories of our Hispanic and Latino American communities during Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from September 15 to October 15. We invite you to explore our catalog of over 1,200 titles in Spanish, as well as bilingual Spanish & English books, and over 400 electronic materials in Spanish. Celebrate Hispanic and Latino literature, experiences, and storytelling with multilingual programs, resources, storytimes, and more.
And so, while you may be busy this September, take the time to celebrate two things at the heart of the city of Summit – our Library and our diverse community! As always, if there is anything that we at the Library can do to better meet your needs, please feel free to contact me at abs@summitlibrary.org or (908) 277-9455.
Sincerely,
Amy Behr-Shields
