From the Director-October 2021

This entry has been published on October 1, 2021 and may be out of date.

The Library is fully open and programs and events are back in the building and there are many programs and special events planned this fall. Please join the Friends of the Library (FOL) for their Giant Jewelry Sale on Saturday, October 23rd from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm and Sunday, October 24th from 1:00 – 4:00 pm. Returning for the first time in almost two years! Remember that the FOL support the museum pass program, the Library of Things, many library programs, and more. Volunteer to help them sort the jewelry, set-up for the sale and work the tables on the days of the sale. This will be the biggest sale since the fall of 2019 so it will be fabulous. Jewelry donations are accepted any time.

Also returning in-person for the first time since the fall of 2019 is the wonderful Volunteer Fair. Have you thought about volunteering your time but don’t know where to start? Meet with some of the many non-profit organizations in and around Summit and find the right volunteering position for you. More than 15 organizations will be represented and you’ll be sure to find the right fit. The event will be held on Sunday, November 7th from 1:30 – 4:30 pm.

Concerts in the Library rotunda are also back and we have a great line-up:

October 17: Ellen LaFurn: Fun with the American Songbook
November 14: Radiance Chamber Ensemble
December 12: Vinnie Cutro Duo: Music of jazz greats Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn

You can still enjoy all the Library has to offer. Looking forward to seeing you soon!
