Dear Summit Free Public Library patrons and community members,
The week of October 16-22 was National Friends of Libraries week in the United States and in Summit! And so, as we enter into a season of gratitude and giving thanks, I would like to take a moment to spotlight our Friends of the Library group and thank them for their time, their commitment to the Library, and their fundraising efforts that truly lead to the betterment of our Library and our community.
Our Library would not be what it is without the support of the Friends. The funds that they raise enable a variety of programs and services – including the Museum Pass program, the Library of Things, the Summer Reading Program, bestselling author talks, and much, much more. The Friends of the Library are a 501©3 non-profit all-volunteer group that raises funds to improve library services in Summit. (Click here to read the official proclamation from the Office of the Mayor.)
It is almost serendipitous that this year’s National Friends of Libraries Week leads us into the Friends of the Library Giant Jewelry Sale on Saturday, November 5 and Sunday, November 6 in the Library’s Rotunda. Since 2015, the Friends have been holding sales of pre-owned jewelry to support the library. Everyone is invited to shop!

As always, if there is anything that we at the Library can do to better meet your needs, please feel free to contact me at abs@summitlibrary.org or (908) 277-9455.
Sincerely,
Amy Behr-Shields
