From the Director – November 2020

This entry has been published on October 29, 2020 and may be out of date.

Our annual very popular Volunteer Fair had to be cancelled earlier this year due to the pandemic but many Summit non-profits still need your help. So, like all our other programs, we have moved our Volunteer Fair to a virtual event occurring during the week of November 16th. Organizations seeking volunteers have created videos that will be featured on our website and Facebook page during this period. Some of the organizations include NJ Sharing, Christ Child, Summit Playhouse, SAGE, Child Research Labs, First Aid Squad, CASA of Union County, Reeves-Reed Arboretum, Whippany Train Museum, the Junior League of Summit, the Fortnightly Club, Room to Read and GRACE. The Summit Library Youth Services Department is also seeking the services of teen volunteers. Check the Library Facebook page each day during the week of November 16 to see the featured organizations. We hope you find the right organization for your volunteer skills.
Coming soon! The Library will be rolling out our new smart phone app that allows you to check out your library items in the palm of your hand. This new app will allow for contactless check out and will speed you by the circulation desk. It’s simple to use! Download the app, register your library card and you’ll be ready to go. Watch for the start-up, coming in November.
This Thanksgiving may not be celebrated in the same manner as usual but the Board of Trustees and Staff of the Summit Library wish you a healthy, happy day. Hopefully, we will all be back to our normal celebrations in 2021. Happy Thanksgiving to all.
