Dear Summit Free Public Library patrons and community members,
As we enter into March and begin to see signs of spring, we begin looking for ways to venture out of the house. Lucky for us, March brings New Jersey Makers Day to libraries. New Jersey Makers Day is a celebration of all things “making” at libraries all throughout New Jersey. It is an opportunity for people of all ages to connect with others through the world of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math).
The idea for NJ Makers Day began in 2014, with the goal of connecting New Jersey residents with innovative hands-on learning experiences. The first annual event took place in 2015 and by 2016, New Jersey Makers Day was incorporated as a 501©(3) nonprofit organization. Since then, libraries around the state have collectively celebrated New Jersey Maker’s Day with all things STEAM.
This year, the Summit Free Public Library is hosting a series of maker activities from March through May for adults, teens, children, and families.

I hope you join us in continuing to learn – or learning something new – and having fun while doing it!
As always, if there is anything that we at the Library can do to better meet your needs, please feel free to contact me at abs@summitlibrary.org or (908) 277-9455.
Sincerely,
Amy Behr-Shields
