Dear Summit Free Public Library patrons and community members,
It’s about to be June – the start of our annual Summer Reading Program. Books, e-books, and other library materials are wonderful any time of year, but there is something special about summer reading. It continues to foster a love of literature and helps to prevent the summer slide for students, all while celebrating with prizes at milestones along the way. Some of our Grand Prizes include: tickets to the Crayola Factory in Easton PA, tickets to Six Flags Great Adventure, and gift certificates from local businesses. The best part about summer reading at the Library? It’s not just for babies, children, and teens – it is for their grown-ups and all adults too.
Each year, a nationwide committee chooses a theme and a slogan for the Summer Reading Program for libraries all across the U.S. This year’s theme is centered on kindness, friendship, and unity: “All Together Now” or “Todos Juntos Ahora”. As a result, in addition to inviting you to read and join the summer reading program, the Library encourages everyone to engage in efforts that are intergenerational, inclusive, and help strengthen the community.
The Summer Reading Program begins on Saturday, June 10. Click here for more information about the program for each age group.
As always, if there is anything that we at the Library can do to better meet your needs, please feel free to contact me at: abs@summitlibrary.org or (908) 277-9455.
Sincerely,
Amy Behr-Shields
