From the Director – July 2022

This entry has been published on July 1, 2022 and may be out of date.

Dear Summit Free Public Library patrons and community members,

It’s almost July – and that means summer is in full swing. We have lots of programs, contests, and prizes for all ages planned. The Oceans of Possibilities themed program will include lectures, stories, and activities about a New Jersey summer staple – the ocean! Adults will have the opportunity to win a night out at a local eatery and children and teens will enjoy ocean themed prizes, crafts, outdoor programs, and more. And don’t forget – it’s not too late to sign-up for our Summer Reading program!

I’m also excited to announce that this month the Library is introducing a new virtual program series featuring author talks by bestselling authors. Each talk is via Zoom, and attendees can participate in a live Q&A session with the authors. In the first program, Alka Joshi will discuss her book The Henna Artist, a New York Times bestseller and Reese Witherspoon Book Club Pick. Click here to register and to see the full July and August line-up. These programs are brought to you in partnership with the Library Speakers Consortium, which provides access to a range of talks from bestselling authors and thought leaders, and they are made possible by the Friends of the Summit Free Public Library.

Finally, be sure to join us on the Village Green on Monday, July 25 at 7:00 p.m. for our annual “Shakespeare on the Green” featuring Hudson Shakespeare Company’s presentation of Much Ado About Nothing.

As you travel this summer, take the Library with you with books, movies, audiobooks, and more. Simply stop in or visit our website at summitlibrary.org to browse all we have to offer. Oceans of Possibilities await you at the Summit Free Public Library! If there is anything that we at the Library can do to better meet your needs, please feel free to contact me at abs@summitlibrary.org or (908) 277-9455.

Sincerely,

Amy Behr-Shields
