From the Director — January 2022

This entry has been published on December 29, 2021 and may be out of date.

As the New Year begins many people resolve to make changes in their lives or embark on new endeavors. Hopefully, I too will be setting new goals for myself following my retirement in April 2022. By the time of my retirement I will have worked at the Summit Library for nine years, the perfect cherry on top of a 45 year career in libraries. I am very pleased with the many things accomplished during this time including several renovations, improved customer service, an increase in programming and of course, the response to the coronavirus pandemic. I am so proud of our entire staff for the innovation, dedication and effort every single staff member exhibited during the pandemic as they pulled together to find new ways to provide library service whether the library doors were opened or closed.

The Board of Trustees have begun a search for a new Library Director and are seeking input from our loyal patrons. We would appreciate it if you would answer three short questions in the brief survey at this link – https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SummitFPL or by following the QR code below. I look forward to talking to you, our patrons, in the next four months to hear your suggestions and observations toward this effort.

I thank the City of Summit for their support, the Board of Trustees for their dedication, the staff for their enthusiasm and creativity and our patrons for providing us with new challenges every day.  I am sure that our staff will continue to provide excellent customer service in the future and will strive to follow new trends in library service so that the Summit Library remains one of the best community libraries in New Jersey. It has been an honor to work with this Board of Trustees, this staff and this community.
