From the Director – December 2024

Dear Summit Free Public Library patrons and community members,

After giving thanks for all we have on Thanksgiving, we enter the holiday season of giving. Together, we can help our community continue to grow, thrive, and help residents in need.

Each year at this time, we host a donation drive. This year, the Library is partnering with GRACE to collect donations of new slippers in all adult sizes. All of the children of GRACE will have new pajamas this season. Your gift of slippers for the adults would allow them to be cozy together. The collection bin is conveniently located opposite the Circulation Desk from December 1 – December 15.

By contributing to the donation drive, youre helping to address a critical need in our community. To support our broader mission, you can also contribute to programs and services that enrich our community. The Summit Free Public Library relies on the generous support of two organizations. These funds, which go above and beyond the scope of government provided funds, help take our Library from good to great!

The Friends of the Library funds programs for children, adult lectures, museum passes, the Library of Things, the Native Seed Library, and more. These “extras” help make the Library an even more helpful resource for everyone. You can donate online here to support the Friends of the Summit Free Public Library. The Summit Free Public Library Foundation focuses on raising funds for capital projects and technology upgrades. Their contributions ensure that the Library has what it needs to fulfill its mission – to inform, enrich, and inspire our diverse community. You can donate to the Foundation here. Gifts may also be addressed to: Summit Free Public Library Foundation, 75 Maple Street, Summit, NJ 07901. As always, if there is anything that we at the Library can do to better meet your needs, please feel free to contact me at abs@summitlibrary.org or (908) 277-9455. The Library Board of Trustees and staff of the Library wish you a wonderful holiday season!

Sincerely,

Amy Behr-Shields
