From the Director — December 2021

This entry has been published on December 2, 2021 and may be out of date.

After giving thanks for all we have on Thanksgiving, we enter the holiday season of giving. Each year at this time the Summit Library remembers those in our community who may be hungry with the annual food drive. We were unable to do a food collection last fall because the Library was closed for the second time due to covid. During this pandemic we know that many in our community experienced food insecurity and unfortunately, the struggle continues for many.

Help check out hunger this holiday season with your donation of non-perishable food items to benefit GRACE, a Summit-based non-profit. The collection bin is conveniently located opposite the circulation desk and library staff will route 100% of the donations to GRACE for its weekly food distribution program. Groceries most urgently needed are canned meat and fish; canned soups and stews; peanut butter (in plastic jars); boxed pasta and rice; powdered milk; infant formula; canned vegetables and fruits. The collection will run from November 26th through December 17th.

We know that there are many demands on your time and resources during the busy holiday season but your donation to the food drive will take only moments of your time and will benefit many in your community.

The Library Board of Trustees and staff of the Summit Library wish you a wonderful holiday season and best wishes in the New Year.
