As this memorable year draws to an end we find the Library closed to the public once again. Unlike the sudden closing that occurred in March, services are already in place to continue providing patrons with their favorite materials, formats and programs. Curbside pickup is available six days a week as is telephone reference service. All programs continue to be offered virtually.
Ebooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines, movie and music streaming and a variety of databases including foreign language instruction, craft projects, genealogical research and more are all available through the Library’s website.
Books, DVDs, compact disks and other materials may be placed on hold through the library catalog or by calling the information desk at 908-273-0350, option 3. Contactless pickup is simple. When you receive a message that your item is ready, simply call to let the staff know you are on your way to pick up your items in the lobby. Crafts for pre-school, school-age and teens are available for pickup in the lobby as well.
A wide variety of programs for all ages are available through Zoom, YouTube and Facebook. Browse the event calendar and register to participate from the comfort of your home. Sign up for story time, lectures, trivia contests, book and movie discussions, concerts and more. It is likely that library programs will continue to be offered virtually for many months to come due to limitations on gathering and may also become a staple of hybrid programs in the future. These past nine months have taught us that virtual programs open the doors to presenters from far beyond New Jersey. Virtual programs may also enable people who can’t get out or can hear better through their computer than in a crowded room to that participate.
While we hope that the current closing is a short one, we also want to assure you that library services continue to be available and staff remains committed to continue to provide services. The staff and trustees wish you and your families a happy holiday season and we look forward to a much better 2021.
