From the Director – August 2020

This entry has been published on July 28, 2020 and may be out of date.

The year 2020 will surely be remembered for many things but at the Summit Library, it will be remembered as the year that library service changed forever. Within weeks of closing our doors due to coronavirus, library programs transitioned to virtual programs, reference calls were forwarded to staff cell phones and the circulation of electronic library materials soared. This year may mark the tipping point for many library services and some things may never return to the old way of doing business.

Fortunately for us, this year is also the year that we were scheduled to prepare our next three year plan for the years 2021 through 2023. We will take many of the lessons we learned this year, refine them, improve them and incorporate new services and delivery methods into the Long Range Plan.

We need your help! Please respond to our customer service survey at and let us know what you like, what you need and what we can do to continue providing excellent library service going forward. We are anxious to hear your suggestions on the services the Summit Library should be providing and how you think our library should look going forward. If you prefer a paper survey, pick up a paper survey in the library. You are also encouraged to send us a message at office@summitlibrary.org.

We look forward to hear your suggestions and hope that you can help us to mold a new vision for the summit Free Public Library. Thank you for your suggestions and participation.
