Eric Carle, author of “The Very Hungry Caterpillar,” a tale that has captivated generations of children and their parents alike, died on May 25th in Northampton, Mass. He was 91.

He wrote and illustrated more than 70 books for young children, selling more than 170 million copies. “He brought light and color to our lives,” said Simon Says from NPR. There couldn’t be a better tribute to Eric Carle, the beloved self-described “picture-writer!”
