Adult Services Highlight — July 2024

Dear Library patrons and community members,

This July, we are featuring four amazing K-12 authors in our virtual author talk series, Tuesdays this month at 2 pm. While these authors write books for a young audience, these talks are for the whole family. If you’re signed up for one of our summer reading programs, you can earn points or win prizes just by attending.

Newbery Medal-winning author Kate DiCamillo will take us to Deckawoo Drive with everyone’s favorite adventure-loving pig, Mercy Watson! New York Times bestselling author Max Brallier will talk to us about The Last Kids on Earth, both the book series and the animated series on Netflix. Elizabeth Acevedo will be teaching us about the power of poetry in an exciting conversation about her National Book Award-winning and New York Times bestselling novel-in-verse, The Poet X. And we will close out the month with this year’s winner of the National Book Award for Young People’s Literature, Dan Santat, as he inspires tweens and teens to tell their own stories through graphic novels.

Each talk features the opportunity to participate in author Q&A or pre-submit questions during registration. We hope you and your family will enjoy interacting with these bestselling authors.

Sincerely,

Abby Brady, Head of Adult Services

Our virtual author talk series is made possible by the Friends of the Summit Free Public Library.
