Let’s Celebrate NJ Makers Day

Summit Free Public Library will be celebrating its annual New Jersey Makers Day on March 25-27, 2022

New Jersey Makers Day inspires and activates libraries to showcase and highlight STEM and maker culture, enhancing life-long learning.

These programs are sponsored by the Friends of the Summit Free Public Library

Friday, March 25

3 PM: Teen Maker Fest:    Middle and high school students are welcome to stop by the library and do some intermediate to advanced science and tech activities after school.  we will have lots of different items for people to use including Snap Circuits, Finch Robots, the button maker, littlebits, legos, and more!

Saturday, March 26

1 PM:  Maker Fest: Elementary School Students and their families are welcome to come and complete a Maker Passport, featuring legos, robots, STEM art, and maybe even bottle rockets. There will be stations all over the Children’s Room and maybe outside of the library as well

2  PM: Pearl Observatory Portable Planetarium:  Join Pearl Observatory for a portable planetarium program. Explore the sky, learn about and how to find planets, constellations and more!!  If it’s sunny out, you’ll also have the chance to see the sun through their solar telescope

2 PM: Library of things Show & Tell…for grownups: Did you know that the library has a metal detector, a sewing machine, a telescope, a compound microscope, and more that you can check out on a library card? Come and see a demonstration of how the library of things items work

Sunday March 27

3:30 PM: Chinese Calligraphy Program:  Open to all people who are interested in traditional Chinese calligraphy to meet. The Chinese Calligraphy Workshop is open to all calligraphy enthusiasts of any age and skill level.
