3D Printing

3D Printing at the Library

The library’s 3-D printer is available to the community to make three-dimensional objects using a design that is downloaded from a digital computer file.

Restrictions: The established library Rules of Conduct shall apply to the appropriateness of objects to be printed on the 3-D printer.

The library reserves the right to refuse any 3D print request.

Only designated staff will operate the 3D printer.

A maximum of five hours of print time will be allotted for any item to be printed. If there is high demand, the library will schedule only one print per day per person or entity.

Any 3D drafting software may be used to create a design as long as the file can be saved in .stl or .obj file format.

The library will charge $1.00 for any item printed up to 28 grams in weight plus $ .25 for each additional gram.

Wait/pickup time: Items must be picked up at the Circulation Desk. It is sometimes difficult to estimate exact print times. Library staff will make an educated guess about the length of a job upon request.

Items that are printed on the 3D printer that are not picked up within 7 days will become the property of the library. Items must be picked up by the person who requested the print.

By submitting objects for printing, the patron assumes all responsibility for, and shall hold the library harmless in, all matters related to patent, trademarked, or copyrighted materials.

Patrons wishing to be present for the printing process must make an appointment with the Youth Services Department.

Questions about 3D printing:  If you have any questions or notes about your 3D print job, you may ask it in the notes field of this form, and a library staff member will be in contact with you.
