Summit Free Public Library has plenty of copies of your summer reading requirements for school. This year, they are on display on the Mezzanine directly parallel to the stairs, so you can stop in and pick one up.  You can always place them on hold using your library card as well.

Are you on vacation all summer?  The library has ebook versions of most of the books through libby

Don’t forget…all children who go to Summit Public Schools may stop by the library with their parents and apply to receive their own library card.

While you’re at it, why not make your reading count towards points and prizes from town, by registering for the 2026 Summer Reading Program?

Lawton C. Johnson Summit Middle School

• 6th Grade:  The library has over 20 copies of Wonder, by R. J. Palacio, and 5 copies of each of the remaining titles.
• 7th Grade:  The library has over 20 copies of Fever 1793, by Laurie Halse Anderson, and around 15 copies of each of the remaining titles.
• 8th Grade:  The library has around 15 copies of each title.

Have you chosen a book (or several books) to read this summer that will become a part of your reading identity?  Let the librarians at Summit Free Public Library help you! We have several lists of books that we recommend, as well as several suggested books, as recommended by Mrs. Zarabi and Mrs. Shue. If you’re stumped on what to read next, check out those lists, or stop by the Ask Us desk, and we will recommend some books for you.

Honors US History II

Students enrolled in Honors US History II are required to read a scholarly nonfiction book about U.S. history between 1900 and 1950. Below are suggestions of titles available either at Summit Free Public Library or within the larger MAIN consortium of libraries. 

AP English Language and Composition

Rising Juniors enrolled in AP Language and Composition are required to choose both a book to read independently and select a work of Non-Fiction that reflects their abilities and interests as a reader.
